DDOT To Implement Reserved Parking Meters For Persons With Disabilities

 

From Monica Hernandez: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced it will implement a new program designed to improve access for persons with disabilities to businesses and services in the commercial areas of the District.  Starting later this month the District will provide reserved metered parking spaces for persons with disabilities at distinctive “red top” meters.  This new program sets aside curbside parking spaces for the exclusive use by persons with disabilities and eliminates the free parking in metered spaces that has become a prime incentive behind the fraudulent use of disabled parking placards and license plates.

Today, Capital Bikeshare, in conjunction with Bank on DC, United Bank and the District Government Employees Federal Credit Union (DGEFCU), announced the launch of its Bank on DC program, which will offer $50 annual memberships to unbanked individuals who sign up for a debit or credit account at United Bank or DGEFCU. In addition, existing Bank on DC members will also be offered the $50 annual membership rate.

To observe the Thanksgiving holiday, all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations will be closed on Thursday, November 24.  All DMV service centers, the vehicle inspection station, and adjudication services will open with regular operations on November 25.
